The unemployment rate in June 2025 fell to 4.1%, as total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 147,000. Analysts’ median forecast for June was 4.3%, and unemployment was 4.2% in May. State government and healthcare jobs rose while federal government jobs continued to fall.
The number of unemployed people dropped to 7.0 million, and unemployment has stayed between 4% and 4.2% since May 2024.
